Oconomowoc Sportsman Club Spring Buffalo Runners League
Yes we will run the buffalo league again this year . We ran for a total of 17 weeks last year and had steady going interest through out the year. We plan to run twice the targets this year to speed things up as we ran close to not having enough light several nights. We had a few perfect scores last year however they were rare, we learned about ammo, wind, air density pockets, and equipment. But most of all we had a lot of fun. We had a great bunch of men and women shooting with us and look forward to expanding the group this year. See the planned dates on the back of this and a little more info below.
Who: Any one who wants to joins us.
What: We will shoot metallic knockdown buffalo silhouette’s with 22 rimfire (Scope, open sights, tang sights we will run a class for everyone). The distance we will shoot at these targets is 300 yards. Yes you read it correct 300 yards with a 22 rimfire.
Where: Our rifle range at Oconomowoc Sportsman Club.
When: Monday nights to the schedule below. The first Monday we plan to set up equipment, and have fun shooting at the buffs informally. The reason for this is that we may not have enough light to get full sets in for everyone and it will take some time for everyone to get their equipment as they want it. Then we will shoot 8 weeks in a league format. The summer league will follow the 8 week spring league if we have enough interest to continue. We plan to be ready to shoot at 4:00 pm.
Buffalo League Dates for 2008
A few hints to get ready
1. If you can sight your rifle in at 35 yards to shoot 13.5 inches high you will be close at 300 yards.
2. If you can not adjust to 18 inches high a 30 thousands shim under the rear scope ring will do it. Burris signature rings set with 0.015 down front and 0.015 up back is an elegant way to do this.
3. Hyper velocity stuff knocks down even the hard set targets.
4. Many people think a 22 cannot be shot accurately at 300 yards. This is horse feathers we have run 7 or 8 straight a number of times. Plan to learn a little about wind, have a good time, and knock over a few Buffs
Cost : OSC Members $3.00 per night - Non OSC Members $5.00 per night
